Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic exposed critical weaknesses in globally dispersed supply chains, particularly within manufacturing and industrial sectors. This paper evaluates the growing debate between nearshoring and traditional global sourcing models by analyzing logistics disruptions, supplier dependency risks, transportation bottlenecks, and manufacturing delays experienced during the pandemic period. The article further discusses strategic methods countries can adopt to strengthen domestic and regional manufacturing ecosystems while balancing cost efficiency, trade competitiveness, and supply continuity.
