Abstract

Against the backdrop of the ever-changing digital banking space of today, audit-readiness has become a continuous going-forward in DevOps pipelines rather than a one-time task that is done periodically. Financial organizations are under rising pressure for compliance with strict regulations of their still being innovative and agile in delivering software. However, creating clarity throughout complex, fast, and ever-changing development environments can be far from simple, especially in managing change, ensuring that policies are followed, and appealing to external regulators for the needed permissions. The paper looks into how banks can solve these problems by merging GitLab and ServiceNow and making a DevOps ecosystem which is easier to observe, audit and compliance-ready. GitLab’s fully tracked information and automatic CI/CD, along with the robust ITSM and governance features of ServiceNow, offer a consolidated view of the source for better surveillance, compliance gates for usage enforcement, and verifiable audit trails construction purposes. Risk management could be a proactive and automated operation due to this approach while oversight de-escalation and the agility of keeping up with regulations are also assured. Ongoing observations made during the research shed light on the positioning of the development-related activities, with the controls of governance, earlier on, to step up the effectiveness of development. Connect the in-built modules in GitLab with specific procedures of your company to make evidence collection easy, abide by the rules of role separation, plus clear the way for the audit to be carried out, thus allowing the development team in the bank to complete the DevOps process automatically. As a bonus, the compliance report is condensed, while the value and the robustness of the operational strength are enhanced. The process of planning for a future event is dynamically transferred to the stage of operation, thus enabling the bank to be more creative while still maintaining both local and global regulations.
